Program Description:
The Loveland-Symmes (Ohio) Fire Department (LSFD) is in search of a limited number of community members for consideration in serving as a part of the

new ìLSFD Volunteer Emergency Services Unitî (E.S.U.) that will provide supplemental operational or administrative assistance specifically in the area of fire, disaster and related emergency services.

Based upon the Federal ìCommunity Emergency Response Teamî and "Federal Fire Corps" concept-LSFD is taking the program a step further! According to LSFD Chief Ott Huber, the LSFD ESU members may choose to be assigned to a mutually agreed upon duty crew at a firehouse and participate directly in emergency response support activities along with the on-duty regular

firefighters. ESU members will also be subject to "call out" to assist at specific situations as needed. Volunteer ESU member duties may include

assisting at emergency calls, traffic control, fire and disaster support services, community events or long term situations. Additional duties for some ESU members may also include support services in an administrative capacity within the FD.

As a member of the LSFD ESU, members will serve with one of the FINEST fire/EMS departments in the Tri-State area, on the most state-of-the art

equipment and respond to applicable emergencies along with our career professional personnel. In this City of Lovelandand SymmesTownship

community VOLUNTEER opportunity, you WILL matter and you WILL make a difference in assisting and supporting the on-duty career professionals.

Individuals interested in this volunteer membership must complete the Department's application process including a physical examination, work verification, an extensive reference, employment and background

investigation by a law enforcement agency and a range of training courses, including the LSFD ESU in-house recruit training program and the LSFD ESU recruit probationary period coursework. ...... all which will be held

locally. Additionally, a conveniently scheduled regular monthly ESU meeting and training session will be held for all volunteer members.

While LSFD ESU membership will require a commitment of time, it also provides a unique opportunity for our residents to learn and apply a wide range of emergency service skills while contributing DIRECTLY to the

Loveland and Symmes Community! LSFD ESU members may also have some opportunities for on-duty time, riding and working alongside of the

on-duty personnel! Admittedly, this opportunity is not for everyone. We are looking for a small and select group of qualified residents from in

and close proximity to the City of Loveland and Symmes Township. Prospective members will be asked to attend a Loveland-Symmes FD ESU prospective member orientation session in the near future.

NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED! The Department will provide everything necessary at no expense to the successful candidate. The Department will

also provide:

- Workers Compensation Insurance.

- Federal Homeland Hero benefits.

- All training, equipment and uniforms.

- A Retention Incentive Program.

- An Opportunity to join the Firefighters Association.

You only need to provide the desire and commitment!

As Chief Huber emphasized, "Our new ESU members will be doing some serious and important work" Those who do rise to the challenge, will learn that they gain at least as much as they contribute. Whether it is attaining professional training, personal achievement, or helping citizens during the darkest hours, our Emergency Services Unit members will find that serving as a volunteer with LSFD may be one of the most rewarding aspects of their lives! "I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to

strongly consider becoming a part of our newest venture at Loveland-Symmes"! stated Chief Huber.
