SCW Fire Honors Volunteers

The Sun City West Fire District honored 46 people Tuesday who volunteered their time in 2010 to help keep the community and its residents healthier and safer.

At the annual appreciation breakfast in honor of Volunteer Appreciation Week, the district thanked its fire corps members for providing services such as blood pressure screenings, lockbox installations and maintenance, smoke alarm checks, installations and battery changes, injury prevention presentations, fire extinguisher training, and administrative assistance.

During 2010, fire corps members volunteered approximately 2,624 hours with the district, providing an answer to non-emergency calls for service, which qualified the group for a President’s Volunteer Gold Service Award.

The volunteers honored: Betty Bacon, Michael Bannon, Darlene Born, Janie Braswell, Dick Cherry, Nancy Cherry, Angie Claudon, Bob DiAsio, Renee DiAsio, Dorothy Faucz, Gene Faucz, Claire Fowler, Charlie Frankel, Sandy French, Lu Gay, Sandy George, Janet Gooltz, Janette Gricol, Pat Hantz, Jack Hasemeier, Kerrie Helem, Dee Houden, Fran Katz, Marjorie Kleis, Mary Langill, Mary Leonetti, Pauline Lutmer, Mary Lou McDonald and Dolores McLoughlin.

The list also includes Melinie Noren, Irene Orenchak, JR Reese, Jackie Soltis, Margie Staskelunas, Doris Turner, Mary Vaccaro, Del Vosburg, Marian Vosburg, Ann Walker, Nancy Wendler, Mary Wick and Cathie Yamanouchi.

A special thank you also went out to supportive board members David Wilson, Bill Hamel, Dennis Lake, Jack Meyer and Dusty Rhodes.

Applications are available from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the district administration office, 18818 N. Spanish Garden Drive.
