NIXA, Mo. -- Christian County has seen a record number of fires this year and emergency crews could use your help.

That's why they're putting out a call for volunteers to help cool them off, get them rehydrated, and check them out for medical purposes.

The Nixa Fire Protection District and the Christian County Emergency Management office are looking to build and expand the Fire Corps Task Force Teams for each fire district in Christian County.

The task forces will assist with Rehabilitation for firefighters, other emergency workers, and could assist with any needs the family may have during these emergencies.

If you are interested in helping with Fire Corps, visit http://ema.christiancountymo.gov/firecorps.htm. You can also call (417) 581-2126.

Currently the team for Highlandville Fire Protection District is already in place, but there is still a great need to provide assistance in Ozark, Billings, Clever, Nixa, Sparta, and Chadwick.

All required training (Citizen Emergency Response Team) is provided by Christian Co. EMA and they will organize the teams, cover protocols, provide the supplies, and even provide a "Fire Corp" shirt.
