Mesquite Donates Fire Rehab Vehicle to Garland

From The Mesquite News / Star Local News

Mesquite Mayor John Monaco presented a fire rehab vehicle on Tuesday, July 16, to Garland Mayor Douglas Athas prior to the Garland City Council meeting.

The rehab vehicle will be used by the volunteers of the Garland Fire Club to provide support to Garland firefighters at various scenes and events.

"This donation is another example of the great relationship our two cities have enjoyed," Monaco said at the Garland City Council meeting. "Mesquite and Garland have a wonderful history of working together."

The rehab vehicle was no longer in use by the volunteers of the Mesquite Fire Corps since they received a new vehicle recently. The Mesquite Fire Corps did utilize the vehicle in numerous support roles for the Mesquite Fire Department. The volunteer group also used the vehicle to provide regional support to other cities, most recently to the city of Lancaster during last year's tornado outbreak.

The vehicle was originally obtained by the Mesquite Fire Corps in 2008 from the city's Mesquite Transportation for the Elderly and Disabled Program.
