From Fire Department Network News

The Shreveport Fire Department's (SFD) "Take It To The Streets" smoke alarm campaign is wrapping up for 2010 on Saturday when volunteers expect to install up to 300 smoke alarms in the MLK area of the city, according to a news release from SFD.

"The Department has taken a proactive approach to preventing needless fire deaths and injuries by increasing fire safety awareness through installing FREE smoke alarms in targeted areas", according to Fire Chief Brian Crawford. "We realize that fire safety education and awareness is a year-round activity."

On November 20, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. the SFD will be at the Shreve Memorial Library-David Raines Branch located at 2855 Martin Luther King Drive. Volunteers from Lowe's Home Improvement Center of Shreveport, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Fire Corps and Signal 51 will also be on hand to help SFD promote fire safety.
