Heating Safety

Tuesday, 17 April 2012

Spring may bring warmer temperatures during the day, but the nights can still be cool. It is important to be aware of heating safety – even as winter fades away. According to the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), heating is the second leading cause of home fires.

Keep anything that can burn at least three feet away from heating equipment. All heaters need to be properly installed, operated, and maintained.

Learn more about safe heating and find additional tips on the USFA’s web site at http://www.usfa.fema.gov/citizens/home_fire_prev/heating/.
