Fire Corps to be Featured on “Comcast Newsmakers”

Monday, 20 October 2008

On October 15, Sarah Lee, Acting Fire Corps Director, filmed a five-minute segment as part of the “Comcast Newsmakers” interview program. The "Comcast Newsmakers" is a five-minute interview program airing on CNN Headline News that provides news and information from people making a difference. Elected officials, public servants and community leaders connect viewers to the important issues, events, and organizations that are shaping our community. In this segment, which will air in Maryland, Lee describes how community volunteers can help their local fire departments through Fire Corps.

This interview will provide additional exposure for Fire Corps in Maryland communities and increase awareness regarding the program and the need for volunteers. The interview was conducted by Tony Hill, whose credits include a role in the movie Minority Report and serving as the host of Dream House on HGTV.

“We are very glad that Comcast identified Fire Corps as an organization to be featured through a ‘Newsmakers’ segment,” Lee said. “The program will reach thousands of potential Fire Corps volunteers and alert community members that their fire department needs non-emergency assistance. We’re grateful for Comcast’s support.”

The interview will air during CNN Headline News in areas of Maryland later this fall. The segments are shown multiple times over the course of one week, providing numerous opportunities for viewing. Learn more about Comcast Newsmakers.
