Switch to Digital TV Quickly Approaching

Wednesday, 20 May 2009

On June 12, 2009, all full-power broadcast stations in the United States will discontinue broadcasting on analog airwaves and operate only in digital. Congress delayed the transition until June 12 to give consumers four additional months to prepare themselves for the switch. A digital converter must be purchased for analog television sets in order for them to receive broadcasting signals after June 12.

Millions of Americans depend on television to receive information, emergency alerts, and warnings. Fire Corps teams can help to make sure communities are prepared for the switch and assist those in need with the transition.
