Hurricane Season Began June 1: Is Your Community Ready?

Hurricane season began on June 1 and lasts until November 30. Fire departments and their communities need to be ready and have a plan in place before a hurricane strikes in order to avoid or lesson potential disaster. Fire Corps programs can help their departments by ensuring the community is prepared in the event of a disaster. The National Volunteer Fire Council has compiled a Hurricane Preparedness Resource Center to help fire and EMS departments prepare their communities. Access the Resource Center at
