It’s National EMS Week

Thursday, 20 May 2010

Recognize the contributions and dedication of the emergency medical service providers in your department and community during National EMS Week. The 2010 event is this week, with May 19 set aside as Emergency Medical Services for Children Day to focus on child safety and injury prevention.

EMS Week provides a great opportunity for Fire Corps volunteers to publicize safety and honor those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine’s first responders. The 2010 theme is Anytime. Anywhere. We’ll be there. This theme underscores the commitment of EMS providers who provide care to those in need, often under daunting circumstances.

EMS Week is organized by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and is supported by a network of partner organizations including the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), which administers Fire Corps. ACEP provides tools and resources for EMS Week, including a planning guide, outreach and recognition activity ideas, information for working with the media, and more. These materials can be used throughout the year for public education and safety programs. Visit www.acep.org/emsweek.
