Participate in the 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance

Last year, President Barack Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act into law, authorizing that September 11 be annually recognized as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Although not a federal holiday, the anniversary of September 11, 2001, is to be observed as a day for citizens to voluntarily engage in community service.

The Serve America Act offers new opportunities for citizens to become engaged in, and give back to, their communities. Fire Corps teams can plan service projects with their department and the community in honor of 9/11.
