FEMA Hosts Disaster Preparedness Challenge

Tuesday, 21 December 2010

Deadline for entries is January 2

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has issued a citizen disaster preparedness challenge for communities. The challenge asks for ideas on how communities can be better prepared when disaster strikes and how the government can support community-based activities to help everyone be ready.

Fire Corps programs and volunteers can enter the challenge by sharing existing preparedness plans or developing new ideas that could be implemented within the community.

Submissions will be judged based on originality, level of community engagement, and ease of implementation. Entries are due January 2. The winner (who has the best, most intriguing idea) will be featured on the FEMA web site. Learn more at http://challenge.gov/fema/87.
