New Free Incident Rehab Training Available

Wednesday, 16 February 2011

Fire Corps teams can play a major role in the rehabilitation of firefighters at the scene. The Firefighters Support Foundation’s (FSF) newest training program, Emergency Incident Rehabilitation, is now available for free online. The program can be used by first responders and Fire Corps members to learn why rehab is important, the basic functions of rehab, and more.

This program consists of a 30-minute video presentation and a 90-slide PowerPoint presentation. Topics covered include:

  • What is Rehab?
  • Why do we Need Rehab?
  • The Functions of a Rehab Operation
  • When to Establish Rehab
  • Heat Factor/Wind Chill
  • Locating the Rehab Operation
  • Staffing the Rehab Operation
  • Osmolarity
  • A complete set of review questions

The entire program is at the practical level for front-line responders. The PowerPoint and video portions of the program can be used by any agency or member either as-is, or as a basis from which to construct training modules or presentations of their own.
