The Bernalillo County Fire & Rescue Department has 12 districts with stations throughout the County of Bernalillo: four each in the East Mountains, South Valley, and North Valley. These districts provide fire and rescue services for over 550,000 residents, in an area of 1,166 square miles. BCFD is unique in having a combination system of paid and volunteer personnel, who train and are required to perform at the same standards for the same jobs.

As a Bernalillo County Fire & Rescue Department volunteer you learn to work as part of a well-disciplined team. The skills you learn with us will assist you in every facet of your life. Our Support Volunteers help with administrative/clerical work, as photographers, support on the fireground including firefighter rehabilitation, public education, and training other members of the department.
