The University of the Ozarks Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) organization The University of the Ozarks Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) organization donated almost 100 hours of their time to Johnson County RFD #1 in Clarksville, Arkansas in 2004 for Johnson County RFD #1’s Fire Safety Programming.

Students helped to fill "goody bags" for Fire Prevention Week, worked with the department’s smoke alarm installation program, and assisted with "Kidsfest", the county’s fire and life safety fair held in October, including taking aerial photos of the events for public relations work. In addition the PBL members assist the department in their evaluation methods by performing critical data entry and data analysis tasks. Other university students in the Communication Department developed public service announcements for the community television access channel which is seen by over 4000 residents in Johnson County.

The PBL members dedication has helped them give back to the community, and by providing critical manpower for Johnson County RFD #1’s fire safety education initiative they have allowed the whole department to better serve the citizens of Johnson County.
