Fire Corps Releases Spanish-Language Resources

As of July 1, 2006, the U.S. Census Bureau calculated that 15 percent of the nation’s total population(or 44.3 million) is Hispanic, making people of Hispanic origin the nation’s largest ethnic or race minority.
To honor the Hispanic heritage and provide important tools for this growing population, Fire Corps, in partnership with the National Association of Hispanic Firefighters (NAHF), has released several Spanish-language resources. These include print advertisements, public service announcements, press releases, sample documents, and more. Encourage your local programs to utilize these Spanish-language materials. 
Fire Corps volunteers can distribute these materials at places of worship, community centers, and senior centers. They can also invite a leader in the Hispanic community to speak about the importance of preparedness and safety at schools and community forums. Encourage your Fire Corps teams to order and use the All-Ways Fire Safe at Home module, which contains information in both English and Spanish to promote fire and life safety to community members in different stages of life, from preschool to older adult. This module is available free-of-charge to all registered Fire Corps programs.
The NAHF’s priority is to develop and conduct fire & life safety education programs that reduce the loss of life and property for all people with an emphasis in the Hispanic community.
