Fire Prevention and Safety Grant Application Period Now Open
Monday February 16th, 2009The application period for the FY 2008 Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) Grants opened on February 2. Applications for these grants must be received by March 6 at 5 pm EST. Help your department apply for funds to support important programs including Fire Corps activities.
Administered by the Grant Programs Directorate in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency, FP&S grants are part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program and support projects that enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from fire and related hazards.
The main goal of FP&S grants is to reduce incidences of injuries and deaths among high-risk groups, including firefighters, children, and adults over 65. Grants can support activities including fire prevention and public safety education campaigns, juvenile firesetter interventions, media campaigns, arson prevention and awareness programs, and department health and safety initiatives, to name a few. Departments have successfully applied for FP&S grants to help support a Fire Corps program.
Visit the FP&S web site at www.firegrantsupport.com/fps for information, including grant guidance and application materials. Click here to learn about other grant opportunities that can help support your Fire Corps program.
