Massachusetts Uses 1-800-FIRE-LINE as Main Component of Recruitment Campaign
Wednesday April 22nd, 2009In late March, the Massachusetts Call/Volunteer Firefighters’ Association (MCVFA) launched an expansive recruitment campaign that utilizes 1-800-FIRE-LINE to attract prospective emergency and non-emergency volunteers to their local fire and emergency service departments. MCVFA is publicizing the toll-free number through several media outlets, including radio and television, in select markets. The recruitment campaign is partially funded through a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant, which is a program of the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
1-800-FIRE-LINE provides one toll-free number for people to call that want to become involved in the fire service but don’t know where to start. Only a month into the MCVFA campaign, the results already prove that marketing 1-800-FIRE-LINE is a beneficial recruitment tool for fire and emergency service departments. The success in Massachusetts can be repeated in your state. Marketing 1-800-FIRE-LINE can increase the number of potential first responder and Fire Corps volunteers that call to learn more.
Fire Corps provides ready-to-use marketing materials that you can implement in your state or community. Visit www.firecorps.org/1800FireLine to learn more and to access these resources. Questions can also be directed to Kari Wood at kwood@nvfc.org.
