Monday January 25th, 2010January 18 was Martin Luther King Day, a recognized day of service across the nation. Since 1994, when Congress passed the King Holiday and Service Act, Americans are encouraged to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King by turning community concerns into citizen action. Last year, a record number of Americans honored Dr. King by volunteering. More than 13,000 service projects took place across the country, doubling the total from 2008.
