Award of Excellence

The Fire Corps Award of Excellence honors a Fire Corps program whose remarkable achievements in the fire and emergency services and the community exemplify outstanding performance. The nomination period for the 2009 award is now closed. Stay tuned for information regarding the 2010 nomination period.

To be considered for the award, nominated programs must be registered with Fire Corps and must be part of or affiliated with a fire/EMS department. Nominees must meet a majority of the following criteria:
 
Award Eligibility
 
  • The actions or achievements of the program must have made a positive impact in allowing the fire/EMS department to respond to the needs of the community and assist in making that community safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to emergencies of all kinds.
  • Candidate programs must have been active for at least one year at time of nomination.
  • Eligible programs include auxiliaries, junior firefighter programs, and other non-emergency support programs that meet the criteria for a Fire Corps program and are registered with the national Fire Corps office. Register for free on the Fire Corps web site.
 
Nomination Packet Should Include:
 
  • Completed nomination form.
  • Description of Program Activities (1000 word maximum)
  • Description of Program Accomplishments (500 word maximum)
  • Supporting documents, which may include but are not limited to:
    • Letters of support
    • Media articles
    • Statistics/data indicating program impact
 
Selection Process
 
The selection of the Fire Corps Award of Excellence recipient will be determined by a selection committee after a nationwide nomination process. Nominations must be received by the deadline and should be mailed or emailed to:
